According to the University of Colorado Denver’s Experiential Learning Center, “Learning that is considered ‘experiential’ contain all the following elements:
- Reflection, critical analysis and synthesis
- Opportunities for students to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for the results
- Opportunities for students to engage intellectually, creatively, emotionally, socially, or physically
- A designed learning experience that includes the possibility to learn from natural consequences, mistakes, and successes”
Tesseract’s focus on project based, hands on and service learning, naturally meets many of the criterion set forth above. Additionally, the middle school’s annual trips to other parts of our country and World provide unparalleled learning and growth opportunities for Tesseract students.
