Tesseract School is moving to a more central and cost effective location with more than 16,000 square feet to expand. We are moving to the former Veritas Campus at 1973 E Maryland Avenue.
At Tesseract, we prepare students to thrive in a competitive, global environment. Our integrated, thematic curriculum and hands-on learning experiences, including international class trips, expose students to diverse cultures, foreign languages, the global economy, technology, and social and environmental responsibility issues. Students graduate from Tesseract with a broad understanding of the world as a large, interconnected community.
We incorporate these cross-curricular concepts with authentic learning opportunities in all subject areas. Through experiential learning, our students embrace community service projects, group projects, field trips and class trips; concepts are reinforced and absorbed by students as they connect their learning and individual interests to the world around them.
Students expand upon what they have learned and experienced through the curriculum in a number of ways. With the onset of the digital revolution, where technology is removing barriers, not only do our students research and monitor the issues and events they learned about on their trips and in class, but they harness technology to keep in contact with the people they met through applications like Skype, they collaborate on projects using Google Apps and they share these valuable experiences through personal blogs. Seamlessly integrating these technologies into class studies is integral, and provides an engaging environment that demonstrates how our world is changing and the greater interdependency between nations, cultures, and individuals. Tesseract students learn how actions in one part of the world affect others and how by recognizing the power of this balance and working collaboratively with others can impact change.
Acknowledging the dynamism and complexity of the 21st century, Tesseract is very aware of the importance of balancing the emphasis on traditional skills and global awareness with the need to teach creativity and innovation within interactive and collaborative settings. Through our innovative curriculum, students at Tesseract learn to be critical and creative thinkers who are open to new thoughts and ideas, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively, building the necessary skills for success in high schoo and life in a global economy.
